Hard work pays off....

But only when you least expect it.

After reading the Alchemist over the Holidays, I begin to think of patterns when chasing dreams. Never are dreams easy to catch, and the road can be long and full of discouragement. Most people give up, or move on when the going gets tough. It seems though, at a time when I most needed it, I have gotten some positive feedback reguarding my progreess.

For the past few months, since my slakcing off when I had visitors over the holidays, I have been dancing my leg off...literally, the damn thing keeps falling off! But seriously, I have been in a rut for a while. Although I've been practicing every day, I've felt like I haven't learned anything new, and my style isn't progressing. Like every day when I practice I feel weaker.

But last weekend I decided to go out to the clubs, even though most my other friends are hiding from old man winter. I ran into a few bboys at club five and had a really good time. That night I was in the zone, I was nailing the beat and getting mad love from the crowd. Some hip hop guys even tried to battle us, but we sent their asses crying home! One of the bboys there told me he was doing a documentary on the scene in DC and wanted to put me in it because of how much progress I've made. And over the past few weeks a couple of crews have even talked about recruiting me. So things aren't as bad as I thought, I am learning a ton of new stuff, and I am getting a lot stronger, and I'm starting to develop my own unique style. Watch out bboy Junior!

I also decided to set a short term goal, something to keep my ass working hard. The next jam in the DC/VA/MD area that has singles competition, I'm going to enter. So until then, no days off, no rest, no slacking! My first *real* jam is going to put my name out there, I'm going to make it far, and people are going to be like, who the **** is halfstep?!

Also, this weekend is Culture Shock(a dance troup) tryouts. They practice near my place, and it would be a good way for me to learn about other styles, as well as build a bigger network of dancers.
